Pay-per click ads: Pay-per-click ads are text or graphic ads for which you pay a fee every time someone clicks on the ad to visit your website. Sometimes these ads appear in a fixed location, such as a certain page on a website or in an e-zine. Other pay-per-click ads are context – sensitive e.g. Google Adwords. This means they are displayed on search engine pages and / or a wide variety of advertising-supported sites where keywords related to your service are in use. For example, a project management consultant could purchase a pay-per-click ad for the keyword phrase “project management” and agree to pay a maximum of $2.00 every time a visitor clicked through to visit her site.

Having more external inbound links is something to be desired. For best results, try to acquire inbound links from sites or pages with high page rank values. 3. Blogging
This has now become integral part of the internet, and is one of the most effective ways of linking. You either have the choice of placing a few words or comments on to someone else’s blog, or you may want to link to them from your own blog.
4. Articles
This is another way of getting back links. It is vital that any articles you write are on the subject, informative and thorough in relation to your site. Quality articles published on article sites are a great way of getting more back links to your site.
5. Social networking sites
These sites can drive massive amount of traffic to commercial websites. They are also important method for making both social and business regardless of the type of business you are in.

Google aims to return highly relevant results for every query. Search results are returned from Google’s search index which is constantly evolving as content is added and modified on the web
One way to expedite Google’s discovery of new pages is to submit a Sitemap. Sitemaps are a great way to tell Google about the pages you own, and how often they are updated or changed. Even if your site is already in the index, Sitemaps are a great way to tell Google about the pages you consider most important. Creating and submitting a Sitemap helps make sure that Google knows about all the pages on your site, including URLs that may not be discoverable by Google’s normal crawling process.
If you have a Google Account, you can sign in to Webmaster Tools straight away. Google recommend adding every version of your site (for example, both http://www.yuppify.comand http://yuppify.com). Because Google can send you information only about those sites that they know you own, Google will ask you to verify your ownership by making a specific change to a web page, or uploading a file. If you can make those changes, we know you’re a site owner.
Below points can be considered to make sure Google can find and crawl your site.
1. Check crawl errors. The Crawl errors page provides details about the URLs in your site that Google Bot tried to crawl but could not access. To view crawl errors access your site from www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ .
2. Review your robots.txt file, to see if you’re blocking Googlebot from any URLs or directories on your site.
2. Make sure that the URLs haven't been blocked using “no index” meta tag i.e.
When Google bot see the no index meta tag on a page, Google will completely
drop the page from our search results, even if other pages link to it.
3. Most search engines are text-based. If you use JavaScript, DHTML, images, or
rich media such as Silver light to create navigation and links, Google bot and other
spiders may have trouble crawling your site.
5. If you have recently restructured your site or moved to a new domain, pages
that previously performed well may now rank poorly. To avoid this, use 301 redirects
("Redirect Permanent") in your .htaccess file to smartly redirect users, Google bot,
and other spiders. (In Apache, you can do this with an .htaccess file; in IIS, you can do
this through the administrative console.)
Following below guidelines will help Google find, index and rank your site.
· Make a site with a clear hierarchy and text links. Every page should be reachable from at least one static text link.
· Offer a site map to your users with links that point to the important parts of your site. If the site map is larger than 100 or so links, you may want to break the site map into separate pages.
· Create a useful, information-rich site, and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content.
· Think about the words users would type to find your pages, and make sure that your site actually includes those words within it.
· Try to use text instead of images to display important names, content, or links.The Google crawler doesn’t recognize text contained in images. If you must use images for textual content, consider using the “ALT” attribute to include a few words of descriptive text.
· Make sure that your elements and ALT attributes are descriptive and accurate.
· Check for broken links and correct HTML.
· Take advantage of URL rewriting to make search engine friendly url if your urls are dynamic in nature i.e., the URL contains a “?” character
· The image file name can give Google clues about the subject matter of the image. Try to make your file name a good description of the subject matter of the image.For example, my-new-black-kitten.jpg is a lot more informative than IMG00023.JPG.Descriptive file names can also be useful to users: If we’re unable to find suitable text in the page on which we found the image, we’ll use the file name as the image’s snippet in our search results. It provides Google with useful information about the subject matter of the image. Google use this information to help determine the best image to return for a user’s query.
Tell the world about your site. Incoming links to your site help Google determine your site's relevance
to the user's query. Among other considerations, Google’s ranking algorithm measures each page’s
popularity based on the number of other pages that link to it. Build links to your pages from external
pages with similar, great content.

Google Search Results and it’s importance
All search engines operate in the same basic way: they crawl the web with automatic software robots called spiders or crawlers, which create searchable indexes of web content.
Crawling is how Googlebot discovers new and updated pages to be added to the Google index. Google crawls the web at varying depths and more than one schedule. The so-called deep crawl occurs roughly once a month. Google’s crawl process begins with a list of web page URLs, generated from previous crawl processes, and augmented with Sitemap data provided by webmasters. As Googlebot visits of each these websites, it detects links on each page and adds them to its list of pages to crawl often to ensure its index stays as current as possible. New sites, changes to existing sites, and dead links are noted and used to update the Google index. To stay current, Google launches various supplemental fresh crawls that skim the web more shallowly and frequently than the deep crawl. These supplementary spiders do not update the entire index, but they freshen it by updating the content of some sites.
In general, however, search engines are text based. This means that in order to be crawled and indexed, your content needs to be in textformat. Each engine’s index is unique; the main element of programming them is their algorithm, which ranks pages in an index. This ranking determines the order in which search results are presented.
The indexer has a small but very important function: to catalog all the words and their positions on every page that the crawler fetches. These catalogs serve as maps for the search engine, allowing it to match the words in your search requests to specific web pages and to pinpoint the exact locations of those words on web pages returned as search results.
Results of Google’s algorithm are summarized in a single ranking statistic called Page Rank. Google does promote the importance of Page Rank, and offers Webmasters broad hints for improving a site’s Page Rank.
Important thing to remember here is when using Google; you are actually searching its massive database of web pages, not the web itself. The search engine’s index and copy of web pages is highly tuned and optimized for fast performance under the load of thousands of queries per second. The clear advantage to this approach is that we get the search results quickly however the disadvantage is that we may be searching an out-of-date copy of the web. The results may include pages that the search engine last crawled and indexed more than 30 days previously.
Main fact to remember is that Google applies Page Rank considerations to every single page, not just to domains and top pages. If a specific page is important to you and not appearing in Google search results,your task is to apply every networking-back linking and optimization tactic to that page. You may also manually submit that specific page to Google. You can get your site into the Google index in two simple ways:
· Submit the site manually
· Let the crawl find it
Google accepts URL submissions, but it does not respond to them nor assure webmasters that their submissions will be added to the index. You can submit the URL at this address in Google www.google.com/addurl.html When Google decides to manually to add a site, it does so by sending the spider crawling to the submitted URL to take stock of the site’s various pages.
To see indexed pages in your site, in Google search use the site: operator, type like this: http://www.google.com/search?num=100&q=site:yuppify.com or type site:yuppify.com in Google search, to see sites linking to www.yuppify.com, use http://www.google.com/search?num=100&q=link:yuppify.comor type link:yuppify.com in Google search. The cache: operator shows you an archived copy of a page indexed by Google. For example, http://www.google.com/search?num=100&q=cache:yuppify.comor typing cache:yuppify.com in Google search displays the last indexed version of the Yuppify homepage, along with information about the date the cache was created.
The key to attracting Google’s spider is getting your page linked on other sites. Google finds your content by following links to your pages. With no incoming links (also called back links), you are an unreachable island as far as Google crawl is concerned. Any website, large or small, can gain favorable positioning by leveraging good content, diligent networking, and smart optimizing. In practice, you want as many incoming links as possible, both to increase your site’s chance of being crawled and to improve your site’s Page Rank once in the index. One key to higher Page Rank is getting listed on other site. Google acknowledges that the number of links pointing to a site is the largest single factor of that site’s Page Rank. Highly ranked pages appear close to the top of Google’s search results lists.

Search engine optimization, or SEO for short, is a means of enabling a website to achieve a high rank on a search engine results page. The process involves creating keyword-rich content in the website’s copy, including headlines and subtitles, as well as in the HTML meta tags that the search engine “spiders” read.
Some people argue that SEO is not important. They say websites only need high quality content to attract attention from the search engines, and to gain new visitors. Orlando web design company Yuppify.com acknowledges that good content is important, but notes that certain SEO techniques can be employed successfully to help a website improve its search engine ranking.
There are two types of search engine optimization that people practice, commonly known as “Black Hat” and “White Hat.” Black Hat practices usually involve something called “keyword stuffing,” in which multiple keywords are repeated in the content of the page and in the meta tags in the website’s source code.
For example, a website that’s been stuffed with keywords might feature aweb page that reads like this: Our black sweaters are the best black sweaters available at a black sweater store.
As you can see, the keyword that’s being optimized is “black sweaters.” But it’s more than likely that a person searching online for a black sweater will leave this site immediately, since the copy is not written with the customer’s needs in mind.
“Black hat” practices have yielded high rankings for websites in the past, but are now frowned upon by the major search engines, such as Google and Yahoo. Yuppify.com, the Orlando graphic design firm, says search engines want content that appeals to a site visitor. That’s why they prefer “White Hat” SEO practices, where keywords are included in the online content and meta tags in a way that makes sense to the website visitor.
There are two basic methods involved in Search Engine Optimization:
Internal SEO: In Internal SEO, search engines use software programs known as algorithms or more commonly, “spiders” to study a website’s content. These algorithms “crawl” through a website looking for information to try to understand the content. But, Florida advertising agency Yuppify.com notes that there are limitations. Search engines can’t interpret a picture, or determine whether or not a design is attractive. Those are subjective qualities that software programs can’t understand. However, search engines can read the language written on the website, and understand basic concepts such as where a headline is on the page, what font style and size is being used for the words, etc.
Internal SEO involves the following strategies:
- Site Analysis
- Keyword Research
- Competition Research
- Web Page Titles
- Meta Tag Descriptions
- Sitemap Creation & Submission
- Website Layout, including its content relevance
- Page Links, Alt tags, Hyperlinks
- HTML Validity
- Website Accessibility
External SEO: With external SEO, search engines take notice of a web site’s inbound links or backlinks, to help determine a site’s ranking. Backlinks are links from other websites that link back to your site. These links can be from directories, article sites, blogs, or social networks. Orlando advertising agency Yuppify.com cautions that not all backlinks are created equal. Search engines reward your website with a higher ranking if your backlinks are relevant to your content. Essentially, these links act as “votes.” The higher quality ‘vote’ your site receives, the better chance your site will have of receiving a higher search engine ranking.
